Irish IP Address via VPN: Which Services Run Servers in Ireland

Who actually needs an Irish IP, and when a VPN is unnecessary

The typical user is an Irish expat or traveller abroad. Banks flag sign-ins from unfamiliar countries, some government portals add friction for foreign IPs, and rights deals keep much of the national broadcaster's output behind a domestic address. An Irish exit makes those sites treat you as a visitor at home.

A VPN is not always the answer. Under EU Regulation 2017/1128, an Irish resident's paid streaming subscription keeps working as at home on a temporary stay in another member state; free services may opt in. The VPN earns its keep mainly outside the EU, for services that did not opt in, or for people who don't live in Ireland.

The top three services with an Irish location, side by side

FastestVPN is the cheapest entry point and lacks a free trial, so lean on its 31-day refund instead. Surfshark runs the broadest network of the trio. All three sell a dedicated IP (Surfshark and FastestVPN as a paid add-on). CitadelVPN and FastestVPN allow torrenting; Surfshark marks P2P servers but publishes no torrenting policy. Each has passed an independent no-logs audit, which 10 of the 63 can claim.

What the 40% network weight rewards, and what it ignores

Network and streaming carry 40% of the page score: countries, server counts, 10 Gbps ports, dedicated IPs, port forwarding, Middle East locations, and published streaming and torrenting claims. The Irish server itself is not measured, since its speed and reliability are not published.

That weighting shuffles names around. IVPN has the second-highest overall score on this page (5.77, 4th in the main ranking) yet sits sixth here on a network sub-score of 2.5. LunoVPN, with the third-highest overall score on this page (5.52), is 5th here but 6th in the main ranking. TorGuard climbs the other way into fourth on a network score of 8.3 despite a privacy sub-score of 2.3. If privacy records matter more than server counts, sort by the overall column.

Checking whether the Irish exit is really in Ireland

A virtual location means the IP is registered to Ireland while the hardware sits elsewhere. Most providers publish nothing on this. Five of the 63 state plainly that all locations are physical servers: IVPN, AirVPN, TunnelBear, SwizzVPN and JamboVPN, while FlowVPN admits virtual locations for Bahrain. Only 15 publish a city count, and which Irish city a provider uses is not recorded.

A rotating shared Irish IP can still trip a bank's fraud checks. A dedicated IP gives a stable address that reduces captchas. MyIP.io Static VPN lists Ireland on its dedicated-plan order form, but it carries a red flag for storing connection IPs, a poor trade when privacy is the goal.

Streaming claims and Irish TV

Twenty providers claim Netflix, twelve BBC iPlayer, eight Disney+ and four Prime Video. These are general claims, not tests from an Irish IP, and none covers RTÉ Player, which the site does not track. Use the refund window to confirm the Irish catalogue opens.

Gaps across the whole list of 63

Nine of the 63 carry a red flag: six store connection IPs (Le VPN, ZenVPN, VPN Jantit, 7VPN, MyIP.io Static VPN, Super Free VPN) and three have a public security incident on record (Urban VPN, Avira, LibertyShield VPN). A red flag caps the overall score at 6.0. Surfshark's auditor is Deloitte, FastestVPN's is Altius IT.

FAQ

Short answer: where to start

Try CitadelVPN first if you want the strongest score on the page, testing your bank and any broadcaster within its 14-day window. Surfshark suits those who want scale and a 30-day refund, FastestVPN the budget route with 31 days. Whichever you pick, the refund window is your testing period: confirm the Irish exit does what you need before it closes.
