Getting a Portuguese IP: How VPNs With Servers in Portugal Compare

The leaders on the Portugal list and how they compare

Where each leader loses points

Each of the three has one sub-score that drags it down. Surfshark's censorship bypass sits at 1.9, and its privacy marks suffer from the Nine Eyes jurisdiction: Deloitte audited the no-logs policy, yet connection IP and session times are partly logged. FastestVPN has the weakest cards on the table, with censorship bypass at zero and security at 2.5. LunoVPN's network sub-score of 4.1 is the reason it trails despite a higher overall score than Surfshark.

Why the best overall score sits in fourth place

The page weights network and streaming at 40%, so big networks float up and privacy specialists sink. IVPN has the highest overall score of all 46 services (5.77, privacy 9.0) but lands fourth here because its network sub-score is only 2.5. Mullvad, fifth, charges a flat €5 a month, refunds within 14 days and runs under Swedish jurisdiction. The page order rewards network breadth heavily, so readers who care most about logging should compare the overall score column.

What a Portuguese IP is for

Expats and students abroad want the tax portal or bank to stop flagging foreign logins. Nomads working remotely in Lisbon want a local exit on café Wi-Fi, where a kill switch stops traffic leaking the moment the tunnel drops. For banking, an address shared by hundreds of strangers can prompt extra security checks, so a dedicated IP, which gives you the same address every session, helps. Nine providers sell one (Surfshark and FastestVPN as add-ons, plus VPNUK and Ghost Path), though the data does not say where those addresses sit. Providers claim Netflix support 14 times, BBC iPlayer and Disney+ 4 times each; the site tracks no RTP Play results, so test both during the refund window.

Physical server or virtual address

Only 4 of 46 providers state their machines sit in the country shown (IVPN, TunnelBear, SwizzVPN, JamboVPN); FlowVPN admits virtual locations elsewhere, and 41 say nothing. Fourteen publish a city count, but the site records no Portuguese city. Connect, then verify the exit through two independent geolocation services before relying on it with anything sensitive.

Providers with a red flag

Four more services also store connection IPs: VPN Jantit, 7VPN, MyIP.io Static VPN and Super Free VPN. A red flag limits the overall score to 6.0, so these cannot rank high regardless of network size. Named-account logins through these tunnels are best avoided.

Prices, refunds and the free route

Paid plans start at €0.57 a month (iProVPN), with the median at €2.83. Thirty-six providers publish a refund window, the safest way to test a Portuguese exit. Twenty have a free tier, but free plans usually cut locations and data, so the free-only list lives on a separate page: free VPNs with servers in Portugal. PayPal works with 31 services and crypto with 27, useful if you would rather keep your card out of it.

FAQ

Which provider to try first

Surfshark offers the broadest network of the three leaders (100 countries, 4500+ servers) and a 7-day trial. FastestVPN costs €0.71 a month on the cheapest plan, which suits a tight budget. IVPN is the pick when privacy comes first: its 9.0 privacy rating is higher than any other provider's here. Whichever you pick, confirm that the exit places you in Portugal and test your bank login before the refund window closes.
