Privacy policy
What this site collects, why, and for how long. No cookies, no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics.
In short
We do not use cookies, advertising or third-party analytics. We count visits ourselves, on our own server: from the web server log and from a small statistics script on our pages. Visit statistics use a pseudonymous ID instead of cookies. Detailed records are deleted after 12 months; only daily totals are kept longer. If you send an error report, we keep what you wrote. Nothing is sold or shared.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our web server (nginx) writes a line for each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page address requested, the response code, size and time, the page you came from (if your browser sends it), your browser’s user agent and its preferred language. We use the logs to keep the site running, to stop abuse, for example too many requests from one address, and for visit statistics.
Log files are rotated daily and deleted after 14 days. Each line is also copied into our statistics database on the same server, where it is kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically. For requests from search engine crawlers we look up the reverse DNS name of the address to tell real crawlers from fake ones.
Visit statistics without cookies
A small script on our pages (about 1.5 KB; the site works without it) tells our server: the page you opened, the page you came from and the utm_source tag of the link, if any, your screen size, language and time zone, and what you do on the page: clicks on links to VPN providers’ websites, filters, presets and sorting you use, comparisons, use of our tools, sending the error form (only that it was sent and its topic), how far you scroll and how long the page stays open. It does not record what you type.
The script sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Instead, our server calculates a pseudonymous visitor ID: a one-way hash of your IP address, user agent, language, screen size and time zone, made with a secret key that never leaves our server. The same ID can appear on different days, so we can count returning visitors; a visit (session) ends after 30 minutes without activity. Your IP address is not stored with these events; your country is looked up from it in a database on our server (DB-IP).
These events are kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically. Daily totals (numbers of visits, pages, sources, countries, devices and clicks, without individual records) are kept indefinitely. Statistics are stored only on our own server, are not sent to any analytics or advertising company and are not shared.
No cookies; what your browser keeps
The site sets no cookies. Two conveniences are stored only in your own browser and never sent to us: the light or dark theme you picked and the VPNs you ticked for comparison. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
IP and WebRTC check
The IP check shows the address our server sees. Country and network are looked up in a database stored on our own server (IP geolocation by DB-IP), so your address is not sent to a geolocation service. The check itself is not saved; the request appears in the server log like any other request.
The WebRTC test asks the public STUN servers of Google and Cloudflare for your address, as any video-call page does. Those companies see that request. If the test finds an address different from the one our server sees, your browser asks our server where that address is registered; that request, including the address, appears in the server log.
Error reports
The error report form stores what you enter: the service, the topic, your description, the source link and, only if you give it, your email address, which we use only to reply about that report. To limit spam we also store a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself, and delete the hash after 30 days. Email addresses are deleted 12 months after the report.
Calendar reminders and other tools
The renewal reminder, the cost calculator and the other tools run in your browser. The calendar file is created on your device and is not sent to us.
Your rights and changes
You can ask what we hold about you or ask us to delete it. Log files disappear by themselves after 14 days, statistics records after 12 months; for an error report, send a request through the same form and mention the report.
If we start collecting anything new, this page will be updated first. Last updated: 16 October 2026.
