Indonesia VPN: Services With Indonesian Servers, Their Logs and Real Prices

Two reasons to look for an Indonesian exit

Abroad, the Indonesian IP address is the whole point: it is what Vidio, Genflix and other local services check before serving content. Inside Indonesia, in Jakarta or Bali, the goal flips: a nearby server keeps latency low and encrypts hotel or café Wi-Fi. An exit within the country still sits under Indonesian blocking rules, so for blocked sites you route through Singapore or another foreign location.

Top three side by side

WireGuard and a kill switch are present in all three, and each carries some form of audit. The weaknesses differ. Surfshark keeps your user ID, IP and timestamps for 15 minutes after a session ends and requires an email, which limits its privacy score to 4.4. FastestVPN publishes neither a security audit nor a stealth mode, so its security sub-index sits at 2.5 and censorship bypass at zero. LunoVPN scores best on privacy in the top three (7.7) thanks to RAM-only servers and Monero, but the company is Californian and its listed network is the smallest here.

Headline prices and what they lock you into

The €0.57 rate belongs to iProVPN and holds only on a 60-month "4 + 1 year" plan; month to month it is $6. FastestVPN reaches €0.71 by selling two years up front, and crypto payments are non-refundable. For a short stay that maths works against you: Mullvad keeps a flat €5 per month with a 14-day refund and accepts cash by post. Auto-renewal is on by default at 22 of the 43 providers, which is where most surprise charges come from.

What the whole list of 43 looks like in numbers

Twenty-one of the 43 do not state a jurisdiction. Eight providers on the list (Le VPN, FlyVPN, ZenVPN, VPN Jantit, BullVPN, VPN4Games, Super Free VPN, Rocket Game Booster) are red-flagged for logging the IP you connect from, and Urban VPN has a public security incident on record. Obfuscation matters mainly when connecting from inside Indonesia; for streaming from abroad it is optional. If heavy blocking is your problem, the ranking of VPNs for censorship is the better starting point.

Real rack in Jakarta or a label on a map?

Thirty-nine providers of the 43 are silent on whether their Indonesia location is physical. Three state their servers are real (TunnelBear, SwizzVPN, JamboVPN), one admits virtual locations elsewhere in its network, and only nine publish city counts. Verify it yourself: connect, run an IP geolocation lookup, and compare ping against a nearby exit. If the "Indonesian" server pings worse than one in Singapore, the hardware probably sits somewhere else.

Is a VPN legal inside Indonesia?

Yes; no law bans VPNs. The ITE Law governs content, not the tool, so banned material stays banned through any connection. The Internet Positif filter is run by Kominfo, and Freedom House's Freedom on the Net 2025 scores the country 48 of 100, noting Archive.org was briefly blocked in May 2025.

FAQ

Which one to pick

Surfshark for the widest network, unlimited devices and audited logs; FastestVPN if two years of access for $19.95 is the priority and you accept the thin security disclosures; LunoVPN if signing up without an email and paying in Monero matters. For a trip measured in weeks, Mullvad's flat €5 monthly plan is the honest option. Test the Indonesian service you actually need within the refund window.
