VPN in French: Choices for France, Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec

Site, app, help desk: how many providers confirm French at each layer

Silence about app languages covers 80 providers, and silence means unconfirmed, not absent. The three that do confirm French all sit between 48th and 73rd place.

CitadelVPN, Proton VPN and Surfshark compared

Among the three, only Surfshark confirms a French help centre, and its 9 for apps and support is the best of the trio; the Netherlands registration under Nine Eyes drags privacy down to 4.4. Read the trial terms carefully: on the 12- and 24-month plans the seven days end in an automatic charge unless you cancel. CitadelVPN sells one-off payments, so no subscription creeps back on you, and its trial needs no card.

Why app coverage moves providers up or down here

Apps, platforms and support carry 35% of the score, privacy 21.7%. Mullvad demonstrates the trade-off: privacy 6.9 against VPN Unlimited's 4.0, yet 23rd place next to 11th, because its apps-and-support mark is 3.3 against 9.0.

Providers that put French first

Four services stand out for francophones. VPNfacile, 72nd, runs a website in French only, bills in euros from €3.25 a month, and lists no no-logs policy. MonVPN, 28th, offers support in English and French, euros from €2.49, seven days to change your mind. SmartVPN, 65th, runs its site and its support in both English and French, and quotes prices in USD, EUR and UAE dirhams. Dashlane VPN, 83rd, keeps a French help centre.

France, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec, North Africa

Only 19 of the 87 quote euros themselves, sparing French and Belgian buyers a conversion; elsewhere the site converts prices, with a cheapest plan at €0.95 (PrivadoVPN) and a median of €3.00. Swiss residents have four locally registered companies (Proton VPN, PrivadoVPN, Swisscows VPN, SwissVPN), and francs appear at all four: the first three list CHF among their site currencies, while SwissVPN prices in francs outright. Quebec gets three Canadian registrations, all under Five Eyes, and mostly US-dollar billing. For Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia, Surfshark lists the first two and NordVPN names Rabat, Algiers and Tunis, without clarifying physical versus virtual.

Making the app open in French

Most clients follow the phone's system language. Apple's language settings guide walks through iPhone changes, and Android per-app language documentation explains per-app choices. Set this while the refund window is still open.

FAQ

Picking a VPN as a French speaker

The website is the one layer confirmed everywhere. For French help pages near the top of the table, Surfshark; for French support tickets, MonVPN or SmartVPN; for the highest score plus no auto-renewal and a card-free trial, CitadelVPN. Check the billing currency before paying if you are in Switzerland or Canada.
