Cheapest Monthly VPN Plans Under €5: Pay One Month at a Time

What counts as a cheap monthly plan here

Entry requires only that the published 1-month paid plan cost more than €0 and less than €5 after conversion; other plan lengths play no part. Consumer VPNs make up the largest group (63), followed by 21 free or mobile apps with a paid tier, 9 gaming VPNs, 7 Smart DNS services and 6 decentralised networks. Of the full list, 87 have enough published data for the main ranking.

The bottom of the price table mixes very different products: biubiu Game Booster is a game booster selling a 30-day mobile VIP for €0.72, and platform support varies widely at this price, since Solo VPN runs on Android only and Proxy Mask on Windows only, while Leaf VPN, VPN Jantit and RayaVPN (€0.85–0.86) cover other combinations.

Top three for paying month to month

All three claim an independent no-logs audit, yet only LunoVPN names the firm (CyberNexis, 2026). The differences sit in billing mechanics. CitadelVPN charges nothing until you yourself place the next order, refunds crypto just like card payments, and takes Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto (no PayPal). DuneVPN sells through Google Play, so cancellation and refunds follow store rules, and laptop users have no app yet. LunoVPN covers Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android with unlimited devices, then bills a new month on its own unless you cancel.

How much extra one month costs compared with a year

Across the 79 services that publish both prices, the median monthly plan costs about 1.5 times the per-month rate of a 1-year plan. Some go much further: WideVPN wants €4.29 for a lone month against €1.08 monthly on the yearly rate, roughly four times. Two services charge identically whichever term you pick: RayaVPN (€0.86) and AtmosVPN (€2.92).

The "from €1.38" beside CitadelVPN comes from the 24-month plan; the actual 1-month price, €4.30, sits in the service card.

Teaser first months and silent renewals

An intro price is often bait. Hotspot Shield advertises a first month at €1.71, then renews at about 6.5 times that figure; Kiwi VPN takes €0.85 for the opening month and roughly triples the charge after.

Renewal defaults are murky across the board: 25 of the 106 confirm auto-renewal is on, 8 say it is off, and 73 do not state it; only 32 publish how to cancel. If you bought through Google Play, deleting the app changes nothing. As Google's help page on cancelling explains, access lasts until the end of the paid period, and billing continues until the subscription is cancelled inside the store itself.

Getting money back on a single month

A 30-day money-back guarantee covers an entire monthly plan, which effectively makes it a free test. About half the services here offer one (52, plus 3 partial), 21 refuse, and 30 say nothing. Beyond that silence, the terms themselves can shrink the promise: a few refund only as account points, some require that no server ever connected, and some apply solely to a first subscription.

Across the list, 53 services take bank cards, 48 cryptocurrency, 42 PayPal and 33 Apple Pay or Google Pay.

How this page ranks monthly plans

Price and terms count for 40% of the total score, privacy for 21%, security for 14% and censorship bypass for 11%, with network and apps and support at 7% each. The price component looks at the cheapest rate over any plan length, not the monthly one, and credits free plans, card-free trials, crypto payments, self-service cancellation and plans shorter than a month, while penalising a renewal price jump; only 10 of the 106 publish an independent no-logs audit. Since the ranking rewards fair billing overall, its order does not follow the order of monthly prices, while the 1-month column shows what a rolling month costs today.
