Two deadlines for different payments

For an annual McAfee subscription, you can get a full refund if you ask within 30 days of the first purchase. After an auto-renewal, the window is twice as long: 60 days from the date of the charge. This extra time matters because of how McAfee renews subscriptions: it takes the payment 30 days before the paid period ends. If you spot the charge in the first month of the new term, you can still get the full amount back.

What is not covered by refunds

The refund terms explicitly exclude monthly subscriptions, so you cannot get your money back for one. McAfee's general terms say nothing about purchases made through the App Store or Google Play, nor about refunds for unused time. For the UK and Germany, the support site has separate rules: there, once more than 60 days have passed since an auto-renewal, you can still request a partial refund proportional to the remaining term. For other countries, McAfee does not publish anything about partial refunds.

How to ask for your money back

McAfee's terms do not describe a dedicated refund form. The renewal rules say to contact customer support within 60 days, and McAfee runs a 24/7 chat and phone support in more than 60 countries. Before you reach out, find the purchase email or the charge on your bank statement and check which email address the subscription is registered under.

A refund only covers the current payment. To avoid being charged again a year later, turn off auto-renewal by following our McAfee VPN cancellation guide. To see how refunds work at other services, check our page of VPN refund policies.
