The 30-day window applies after renewal too
Avast refunds your money within 30 days of your first purchase. Under the terms, the same window opens on the anniversary of your subscription, when auto-renewal kicks in. For this service that is the key rule: after the first term, a year costs $99.99, roughly twice the starting price, and auto-renewal is on by default. The charge for the new year can be taken up to 35 days before the anniversary, while the refund window in the terms is tied to the anniversary itself, so it is best to check both the charge date and the anniversary date right away in your Avast Account.
Trial with a card
The trial lasts 60 days on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. A card is required to sign up, $0 is charged, and once the trial ends the subscription becomes paid. Whether the first payment after the trial counts as the first purchase with a new 30-day window is not specified by Avast. If the service does not suit you, it is safer to turn off renewal before the trial runs out; the process is described on the cancel your subscription page.
What the terms do not say
SecureLine has no monthly plans, only terms of 1, 2 and 3 years, so the amount is always somewhere between $59.88 and $143.64. Avast does not state whether it refunds money for unused months after the 30 days are up. There is also no separate rule in the terms for purchases made through the App Store and Google Play.
Where to get help
Your subscription is managed in Avast Account. Among the support channels listed, there is the phone number 855-745-3255 and help articles on support.avast.com. You can compare the terms of Norton VPN, owned by the same company Gen Digital, on the Norton VPN refund page.
