One plan and three terms

Avast sells a single Premium VPN plan for 10 devices, and that is its name in the Avast One app. There is no monthly billing; the terms are only 1, 2 and 3 years. A year costs $59.88 ($4.99 per month), two years $95.76, three years $143.64, and both longer terms work out at $3.99 per month, around €3.43. That is above the median of the main ranking (€3.13 per month). The site calculates its discounts of 40% and 51% against the renewal price of $99.99 per year.

Why three years beat two

The monthly price is the same for two and three years; the difference is how long until renewal. After any first term, the subscription renews for a year at $99.99 (around €86), which is roughly €7.17 per month, 2.1 times the introductory price. Over three years, the three-year plan costs €123.53, the two-year plan with one renewal €168.34, and the one-year plan with two renewals €223.48. The three-year term saves about €45 compared with the two-year one.

Renewal and charges

Auto-renewal is on by default. Under Avast's terms, the next year may be charged up to 35 days before the subscription anniversary, and the price used is the one current at that moment: $99.99 is given as a guide, and Avast explicitly allows a price increase. Auto-renewal can be turned off in your Avast Account. If a charge has already gone through, you have 30 days from the renewal date to request a refund; the terms are covered on the page about getting a refund.

What the price includes and how to pay

The subscription includes Double VPN, and the feature list also has IP rotation and tracker blocking. The service does not offer a dedicated IP or a family plan. The prices come from the US site; on Avast's regional sites they depend on the country. You can pay by card or PayPal; crypto and cash are not accepted. Norton VPN belongs to the same owner, Gen Digital, and its plans can be compared on the Norton VPN pricing page.
