What the 60 days promise

On its pricing page, Malwarebytes promises a refund within 60 days. That is twice as long as the usual 30 days, and far more generous than AzireVPN, a brand from the same company on the same network: there you only get 7 days to request a refund (AzireVPN terms). The pricing page does not spell out the conditions. The Malwarebytes help center points to the license agreement and suggests asking support whether you qualify for a refund in your specific case. The service does not say whether you can get money back for the unused part of a year after the 60 days are up. There are no monthly plans, so any refund would apply to the annual payment: €39.99 for the VPN or €79.98 for the Plus bundle.

Refunds go through the store where you bought

For purchases on the website, you submit the request to Malwarebytes support via support.malwarebytes.com. Subscriptions from Google Play and the App Store follow the rules of those stores, and the help center explicitly warns about possible additional exceptions. On Android, you cancel the subscription on the device itself in Google Play, but for the refund question you are still sent to support. According to the help center, these are two separate steps: cancelling does not process a refund by itself. How to turn off auto-renewal is described on the page how to cancel Malwarebytes Privacy VPN.

Be careful with renewals

In a Reddit thread about refunds after a renewal, the reply states that the 60 days apply to new purchases, while less may be refunded for an auto-renewal. Malwarebytes does not publish the renewal price, so you cannot estimate in advance how much you would get back. If you are not sure you will need the VPN for a second year, it is easier to turn off auto-renewal right after buying.

Will Malwarebytes refund an App Store purchase?

Such subscriptions fall under Apple's rules, so the request usually goes to Apple itself via reportaproblem.apple.com.
