X-VPN scores 6.05 out of 10 and ranks third in the overall rating of 377 services. Of the nine similar services, only Proton VPN (6.12) scores higher, so a replacement makes sense only to close a specific gap. X-VPN has two: security (4.6) and bypassing blocks (1.9).
If you want externally verified security
X-VPN backed its no-logs policy with an ISAE 3000 report, but the auditor is not named, and the service does not mention a separate security audit of its apps and servers. It also does not say whether it protects against DNS leaks. Proton VPN, based in Switzerland, publishes security audits, protects against DNS leaks and routes traffic through multiple servers (Secure Core). It starts at €3.00 per month, allows up to 10 devices and offers a free plan for one. Details in our Proton VPN vs X-VPN comparison. ExpressVPN, with a score of 4.77, costs the same as X-VPN, from €2.57, and has passed audits by KPMG and Cure53.
If five devices are not enough
X-VPN allows 5 devices per subscription, and its terms of use limit that to three on one platform. Surfshark from €2.14 and LunoVPN from €2.15 place no limit on the number of devices. Surfshark has Deloitte and Cure53 audits, but its Netherlands jurisdiction falls under the 9 Eyes alliance; the difference in features is shown in our Surfshark vs X-VPN comparison. LunoVPN is registered in the US (5 Eyes). Windscribe, based in Canada, also has no device limit and offers a free plan, but its money-back window is 7 business days versus 30 days for X-VPN.
Switching services will not fix block bypassing
None of the nine services in our data claims Shadowsocks, VLESS or Hysteria2. Eight of them offer only obfuscation of traffic, just like X-VPN.
