VeePN's lowest price, $1.99 per month (€1.71), applies to the Basic plan for 28 months with $55.72 paid upfront. This is noticeably below the market median of €3.13. The monthly subscription costs $11.99, six times more expensive per month, and works out to roughly €247 over two years.
Where the 16 and 28 months come from
The yearly and two-year plans come with 4 bonus months, and the monthly price is already calculated with them included. That is also where the up-to-87% discounts on the site come from: they compare the monthly price across all 28 or 16 months. It is more useful to compare the long plans with each other: Basic costs $47.84 for 16 months and $55.72 for 28 months. The twelve extra months cost less than $8, so if you have already decided to pay upfront, the shorter option saves almost nothing.
What you cannot see on the pricing page
VeePN does not publish the renewal price for the long plans; the site only says the price applies for the first 28 or 16 months. A renewed subscription is non-refundable, and auto-renewal is on by default when paying by card, PayPal or through the app stores. Paying with cryptocurrency is a one-time transaction, so it immediately rules out an automatic charge at an unknown price. You can turn off renewal in your app store settings at least 48 hours before the end of the term, or by contacting support.
Basic, Pro and Max
The plans differ in the number of devices (5, 10 and 20) and in extras such as antivirus and data breach alerts. Over 28 months, Pro costs $14 more than Basic, and Max costs $56 more. At the same time, the terms of use allow 10 simultaneous VPN connections, so it is best to check with support about the 20 devices in Max before buying.
