Turbo VPN not working? Common causes and what to check

4 things to check, built from what Turbo VPN publishes about its apps, protocols and support. We do not test connections ourselves.

What to check

Switch protocol in the app: Turbo VPN lists OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPsec, Own protocol, Shadowsocks.

Update the app: the last update we saw is dated 2026-09-23 (Android).

Contact support: live chat, Telegram, email.

If the website is blocked too, use the mirror or channel (Telegram, VK, Discord (social)).

We do not test connections ourselves. The tips below are collected from what Turbo VPN publishes about its apps, protocols and support. The service does not report a server status page, so you cannot check in advance whether there is an outage on its side. The terms also state that Turbo VPN may restrict operation in individual countries.

Switch the protocol

The first thing to try is another protocol. The app includes OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPsec and the proprietary ISSR protocol, plus ShadowsocksR on Android. Turbo VPN lists OpenVPN with UDP only, and hotel or office Wi-Fi sometimes blocks UDP traffic. On such a network, try ShadowsocksR or ISSR. The service claims traffic obfuscation but does not say which protocol provides it. If VPNs are blocked at the country level, see VPNs with obfuscation.

Free plan and servers

The free version has only a few servers; the paid Gold and Platinum plans offer more. If a free server is slow or unresponsive, the choice there is small. Turbo VPN makes no claim about Netflix and only claims BBC iPlayer, so if Netflix refuses to play over Turbo VPN, the app is not necessarily broken.

Internet gone entirely

The app has a kill switch: when the VPN drops, it blocks internet access until the connection is restored. If the network has disappeared completely, reconnect or switch servers. Another cause is split tunneling: an app excluded from the VPN goes around it, and changing the address will not work for it.

Where to write

Paid plans include 24/7 support chat, and you can also write by email. Turbo VPN has a Telegram channel and a Discord server, plus a VK page: they come in handy if the service's website does not open for you.
