ZoogVPN not working? Common causes and what to check
4 things to check, built from what ZoogVPN publishes about its apps, protocols and support. We do not test connections ourselves.
What to check
Switch protocol in the app: ZoogVPN lists OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPsec, Own protocol.
Try a manual configuration (PPTP/L2TP/IPsec/OpenVPN/SOCKS5 manual).
Contact support: Telegram, email.
If the website is blocked too, use the mirror or channel (Telegram support bot @zoogvpn_support_team_bot).

We don't run connection tests ourselves, so everything below is based on what ZoogVPN says about its own apps and plans. One thing to know upfront: the service scores 1 out of 10 for bypassing blocks. ZoogVPN doesn't describe any obfuscation mode and gives no explanation of its Shadow Protocol, so failures are quite expected on networks where VPN traffic is filtered.
Switch protocols
The apps offer OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPsec and Shadow Protocol, and the service doesn't say whether it supports WireGuard. If the tunnel won't come up, switch between OpenVPN and IKEv2: the service calls these two its fastest options. If the app doesn't help, manual configuration files for OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec, PPTP and SOCKS5 may come in handy. PPTP is outdated and only useful for checking whether the app is the problem.
Check your plan's limits
The free plan gives you 10 GB per month, 5 locations and one device, and speeds drop under load. Once the data limit runs out, or the VPN is already running on another device, the connection can look broken. Torrenting is allowed only on designated P2P servers. ZoogVPN lists a kill switch only for its desktop apps: when the tunnel drops, it cuts off all internet access, so try another server before assuming the network is down.
Where to get help
ZoogVPN claims 24/7 support, and there is a contact form, a phone number and a Telegram bot, @zoogvpn_support_team_bot, which will help if the website itself is down. The service does not mention a server status page, so support is the only place to ask about an outage. You can compare it with services that have a status page, and if blocks keep happening, consider a VPN with traffic obfuscation.
