45 Reddit and forum threads mention ZoogVPN (we keep titles and search snippets only).
We collected 1195 ZoogVPN reviews from three platforms, 227 of them with one or two stars. Complaint topics were counted roughly, using keywords in English, Russian, Chinese, Arabic and Persian. The main reason for low ratings is the same everywhere: the VPN won't connect, or it connects and nothing loads.
App Store: connections and blocks
About 59% of the 75 negative reviews on the App Store are about the connection: endless loading, disconnects, failures after an update. Roughly one in nine writes that the service stopped working in China or Russia, and some complain that the Shadow Protocol disappeared after an iOS update. The company has not replied to a single negative review on the App Store. What you can check yourself is covered on the page if ZoogVPN is not working.
Google Play: ads in the free version
On Google Play there are 130 negative reviews, about 43% of them about the connection. The second noticeable theme is ads: the free Android app shows video ads, and reviewers say they sit through several minutes of them while the VPN still does not connect. Among negative Google Play reviews posted since the start of 2026, roughly one in five mentions ads. Here the company replied to 79 of 130.
Trustpilot: money and subscriptions
On Trustpilot there are 22 negative reviews, and 13 of them are about money: refused refunds, an extra charge for the next term, a confusing subscription cancellation. Four older reviews from 2019–2021 are from owners of a "lifetime" plan whose server list was cut down. The company replied to all 22, and there are no new reviews there in the last 90 days.
