We collected 382 iTop VPN reviews: 200 from Trustpilot, 180 from the App Store and just 2 from Google Play. After smoothing, Trustpilot gives it 3.99 out of 5, and the App Store 3.53. The ratings are polarised: almost nine out of ten reviews give either one or five stars. The topic shares below are rough estimates based on keywords in several languages.
Trustpilot: complaints about forced installation
The Trustpilot profile is shared across iTop products, so people also write there about the screen recorder, Smart Game Booster and other company programs. More than half of the 39 negative reviews concern installation without consent: iTop VPN appears on a computer alongside IObit programs, opens windows when Windows starts, scares users with warnings about an "exposed" IP and is hard to uninstall. Roughly one in five complains about advertising. The company replied to all 39 negative reviews. Happy customers most often praise the speed and quick support help with licences.
App Store: connection and the free version
In the App Store, almost half of the 62 negative reviews are about connectivity: the app loads endlessly, servers are unavailable, and the VPN stops working after an update. Players of BGMI and PUBG report higher ping and game servers moved to the VIP tier. About a fifth of reviewers are unhappy with the free version: free servers won't connect and the app pushes a subscription. Another fifth write about charges, including accidental subscriptions from a pop-up window. The company does not respond to App Store reviews.
