PIA returns your money if you ask within 30 days of the payment, and that applies to renewals as much as to a first purchase, monthly plans included. The request is a support ticket or email containing your account email and the order number. If the subscription was bought through the App Store, Google Play or Amazon, the store refunds it; gift card payments go back through the payment processor.

Writing the refund request to PIA support

Refunds are handled by the support team, not from the account dashboard. Open a ticket or email support with the address you registered under plus the order number shown on the payment confirmation. If the receipt is gone, a PayPal payment can be identified by its Profile ID or Subscription ID, and an Amazon Payments charge by its Transaction ID. Crypto adds a catch: the payout is valued at the coin's USD rate on the day the refund is sent, not when you paid, so the amount can differ from the original charge.

Three ways to lose a PIA refund

The first is a late request. After day 30 the answer is no, and there is no pro-rata payout for unused months later. The second is re-registering too soon: a new account opened within three months of a refunded one isn't eligible at all. The third is ignoring the verification email. Filing a bank chargeback instead works against you, since an unauthorized dispute leads PIA to blacklist the account's details.
