A refund from IPVanish exists in one narrow case: a first-time customer buys a yearly or 2-year plan on the IPVanish website and cancels it within 30 days of purchase. Cancel in the Control Panel and the refund starts automatically, arriving within 3 business days. Monthly plans get no automatic refund at all, and for purchases made through Apple, Google Play or Amazon, the refund question is handled by that store under its own policy, not by IPVanish.

Which IPVanish purchases can be refunded

The guarantee covers a single payment: your first long-term plan bought directly from the website.

Purchase Inside 30 days After 30 days
First 1-year or 2-year plan from the website Full refund, automatic No refund
Monthly plan Not covered Not covered
Renewal charge Not covered Not covered
Resubscription after an earlier cancellation Not covered Not covered
Apple or Google Play in-app purchase Store decides Store decides
Amazon in-app purchase Not refundable Not refundable

One condition sits in the fine print: breaking the acceptable use policy voids the guarantee entirely.

How the automatic refund works on a website purchase

There is no refund form to fill in. Cancelling the plan in the account Control Panel is what triggers the refund, as long as you do it within the first 30 days from the original purchase date. The flip side: the cancellation is immediate, so VPN access stops right away. Move your devices to another provider before you cancel, not after. The exact screens are covered in our IPVanish cancellation guide.

Three business days is the published timeline for the money to land. Past that, use the 24/7 live chat and give the agent your order details. The official IPVanish guarantee article is the document support works from, so quote it if you get pushback.

Monthly plans and renewal charges

A monthly subscriber has no refund route: the help centre lists monthly subscriptions as ineligible, and cancelling in the Control Panel only stops future billing while the current month runs out. Renewals behave the same way. Every plan auto-renews by default on the stored payment method, and once that second charge posts, the money is not coming back. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to stay ahead of the billing cycle.

The renewal price dwarfs the intro bill:

Plan First 1-year bill First 2-year bill Each later year
Essential $46.68 $57.36 $99.99
Complete $57.48 $74.16 $109.99
Advanced $64.68 $86.16 $129.99

The website's monthly plan costs $14.99, $15.99 or $17.99 a month depending on the tier, and that charge sits outside the guarantee too.

Subscriptions bought through Apple, Google Play or Amazon

IPVanish never held that payment, so returning it is not something it can do; the request goes through the store. On iPhone or iPad, sign in at Apple's Report a Problem site, choose "I'd like to", then "Request a refund", pick a reason and the subscription, and submit. Apple typically updates the request within 24 to 48 hours, and its refund support page walks through each screen. Google Play purchases fall under Google's own refund policies. Amazon in-app purchases, per IPVanish, are valid for the subscription period and not refundable. Deleting the app refunds nothing anywhere.

Bank disputes and payment methods

Opening a chargeback with your bank or PayPal hands the final decision to them, and IPVanish simply acts on the outcome. Cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay and UnionPay are accepted; no crypto, no cash. The terms also warn that some payment methods cannot carry a refund at all, in which case IPVanish offers service time instead of money.

How the refund terms weigh on the IPVanish score

In the price and terms sub-index, IPVanish earns 2.5 out of 10. The 30-day window gets full credit and self-service cancellation adds a little, but the published gaps cost more: no refund on monthly plans, no published pro-rata refund for unused time, and above all a renewal price roughly 3.49 times the intro rate. Overall the service scores 4.1 out of 10 and sits 30th in the main ranking.

IPVanish refund questions

Can I get money back after day 30?

No. Once the 30-day window closes, there is no refund mechanism at IPVanish.

Is there a refund phone number?

IPVanish publishes no separate refund number. Phone support comes only with the Complete and Advanced plans; live chat and email tickets are open to everyone.

Will I get a refund if I sign up again later?

No. Resubscribing after an earlier cancellation removes refund eligibility.

Does IPVanish offer a free trial instead?

No trial and no free plan are published; the 30-day guarantee on long plans is the closest substitute.

Before you ask IPVanish for your money back

Look at the plan length, the purchase channel and the date. A first annual or 2-year website order cancelled within 30 days refunds itself automatically within 3 business days, with VPN access ending at cancellation. Monthly bills, renewals and repeat signups stay final, store purchases go through Apple, Google or Amazon, and a chargeback leaves the verdict to your bank or PayPal.
