What you pay for
Aura VPN is not sold separately. The VPN comes inside an identity protection bundle together with antivirus, a password manager, credit monitoring, data broker removal and identity theft insurance of $1M to $5M. Hence the price: the cheapest option with VPN, Individual for a year, costs 144 dollars, about 10.32 euros per month, while the median across our main ranking is 3.13 euros. The Kids plan is cheaper at 10 dollars per month, but it has no VPN.
Year or month
Monthly, Individual costs 15 dollars, Couple 29, Family 50. When billed annually, that works out to 12, 22 and 32 dollars per month. The site promises a discount of 50–60%, although the difference between the monthly and annual price is smaller: 20% for Individual, 36% for Family. Aura does not publish the renewal price for annual plans, so the 2 and 3 year figures are marked with a dash. Monthly plans renew at the same price, and over 3 years Individual paid monthly would cost 464.40 euros.
How many devices and people
Individual covers 10 devices, Couple is designed for two adults and 20 devices, and Family for five adults with any number of children and devices. Five adults on separate Individual plans would pay 720 dollars a year versus 384 for Family. For those who need only a VPN, the bundle is expensive. Aura itself says the kill switch and split tunneling may not be available on every plan.
Payment and terms
Prices are shown only in US dollars, and the service does not publish its payment methods. You can get your money back within 60 days, and only for an annual plan bought on the Aura website, more details on the money-back page. You can see the full cost of a similar bundle in the McAfee VPN vs Aura VPN comparison.
