Aura gives you 14 days free, and you can sign up for them only on the service's website, once per person. You get the whole identity protection package, and the VPN is just one of its features. Aura has no free plan, and the regular price of the annual plan for one person is $144, the monthly one is $15.

What you need to sign up

An account requires an email and a phone number. Full access to features, according to Aura, depends on identity verification and credit eligibility, and for identity protection the service asks for a Social Security number. The Aura package itself is aimed at US residents. Whether a card is required for the trial, Aura does not say directly. In one review, payment details were entered during sign-up, but the review does not state whether they are required. If signing up without a card matters to you, check out free trials without a card.

What to test in two weeks

Start with streaming if that is why you are getting a VPN. In the reviewer's tests, BBC iPlayer worked, Disney+ worked but hit some blocks, and Prime Video was blocked. Torrents are allowed on all servers, and there are about 80 countries. Test the kill switch and split tunneling separately: according to Aura, they are not available on every plan. The Kids plan does not include the VPN at all.

Trial period and money-back

For the annual plan, the day the trial starts counts as the day of purchase. The 60-day money-back window therefore starts from the first day of the trial, and a refund request is accepted only by phone. How to stop the subscription before the charge is described on the page about cancelling Aura VPN. Terms from other services are collected in the VPN free trials section.
