Trend Micro sells its standalone VPN with a single plan: one year for one device at $29.95, which works out to about €2.15 per month. That is below the median of our rating (€3.13), but you pay for all 12 months upfront. There is no monthly billing and no two- or three-year plans.

One device or the whole bundle

The VPN plan covers a single device. The product page has a switch for 5 devices, but the price does not change when you select it, and the $59.95 plan is marked as inactive. If you want to protect both a phone and a laptop, there is one realistic option: Premium Security Suite at $109.95 per year for 10 devices, with a $45 discount off the $154.95 price. It includes antivirus and the VPN. Per device that comes to about $11 a year, almost three times cheaper than the standalone VPN, but only if you actually need the full bundle.

Renewal price

Trend Micro states outright that the introductory price applies only to the first term, after which the subscription renews every year at the current renewal price, and that prices may change. The service does not publish the renewal price itself, so we cannot calculate the second and third year. Auto-renewal is enabled by default. Before the year ends, check the invoice in your account and decide in advance whether to renew.

Prices on the website are shown in dollars only, and Trend Micro does not name its payment methods. There is no free plan, and the 7-day trial is available only in the iOS App Store.
