To cancel NordVPN, switch off automatic renewal where you paid: website orders are handled in the Billing section of Nord Account, while App Store, Google Play or Amazon purchases are cancelled inside those stores. The service keeps running until the paid period ends, and no further charge follows.

Find where you paid before you cancel

The receipt decides the route: a NordVPN invoice points to Nord Account, a store receipt points to that store.

Where you bought Where to cancel Menu path
NordVPN website Nord Account Billing → Auto-renewal → Cancel
App Store Apple ID Settings → your name → Subscriptions
Google Play Google account Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions
Amazon Appstore Amazon account Your Apps → Your Subscriptions

Turning off auto-renewal in Nord Account

Renewal is on by default, so the next bill lands unless you intervene first. The official support article lists these steps:

  1. Sign in at Nord Account using your email and password.
  2. Select Billing in the left-hand menu.
  3. Locate the Auto-renewal section and press Cancel.
  4. Confirm with Cancel auto-renewal.

NordPass, NordLocker, a Dedicated IP and bundles each need their own pass through these same steps.

Cancelling a NordVPN subscription from the App Store

Apple owns the billing for plans bought on an iPhone or iPad, so the switch lives in Apple's settings. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, open Subscriptions and hit Cancel Subscription for NordVPN; you may need to scroll. For a Mac, launch the App Store, select your name at the bottom of the sidebar and pick NordVPN from Subscriptions. If no cancel button shows up, or a red expiry message appears, the plan has already been cancelled. Apple's subscription page covers devices beyond these.

Cancelling in Google Play and the Amazon Appstore

Android users open Google Play, tap the profile icon and head to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select NordVPN, press Cancel subscription, pick a reason and continue. Use the Google account that actually holds the plan; from a computer, the same thing is done on the Google Play subscriptions page under Manage. Uninstalling the app changes nothing on the billing side: the plan keeps running and keeps charging.

For Amazon, go to Your Account, open Your Apps in the Digital content and devices area, find Your Subscriptions under Manage and switch off renewal for NordVPN there.

What you keep after cancelling and what the renewal would have cost

Access lasts to the final paid day of the billing period, then stops on its own. No money comes back automatically: a refund is a separate request, possible within 30 days from the first purchase, and the NordVPN refund guide covers that process.

Switching renewal off is worth the two minutes because the intro price covers the first term only:

Plan 2-year plan (27 months) 1-year plan Auto-renews yearly at
Basic $94.23 $65.88 $139.08
Complete $121.23 $77.88 $219.48
Prime $202.23 $113.88 $296.28

That jump, x3.32 by VPNRadarLab's count, is one reason the price and terms sub-index sits at 3.1 of 10. Monthly plans renew at the same monthly rate, so the annual spike hurts the discounted plans most. Renewal prices can also change over time.

Deleting your NordVPN account for good

Deleting the account is permanent and takes the whole Nord Account with it: NordVPN, NordPass and NordLocker go together. NordVPN cannot be deleted while NordPass or NordLocker stay on the account, though removing only NordPass or only NordLocker is a separate option. Export NordPass passwords and NordLocker files first, because there is no way back. In Nord Account, select your email, open account settings, find the deletion section at the bottom and press Delete account, then enter the verification code sent to your inbox. Extra checks may kick in, for example with App Store purchases or business-linked accounts.

If the interface gives you trouble, there is a request form: current email, amount, date and method of the oldest available payment, plus whether NordPass or NordLocker exist on the account. Support replies within 24 hours.

NordVPN cancellation FAQ

Does deleting the app cancel NordVPN?

No. The plan belongs to Nord Account or the store it was bought from, not to the phone.

Is NordVPN hard to cancel?

No. Self-service cancellation takes a few clicks and no phone call; live chat and email support run around the clock if something breaks.

How do I cancel a NordVPN free trial?

There is no trial or free plan, only the 30-day money-back guarantee. "Cancelling the trial" therefore means switching off renewal and requesting a refund inside that window.

Can I cancel the monthly plan any time?

Yes. Turn off auto-renewal and the paid month simply runs out.

Does cancelling delete my data?

No. Account data stays until the account is deleted or a support request asks for its removal.

Cancelling NordVPN in short

Website buyers head to Billing in Nord Account; store buyers cancel in the store they paid. Refunds are requested separately, and wiping the account removes every Nord product at once.
