Where FastestVPN falls short
FastestVPN is strong on apps for almost everything, from Linux to Fire TV and routers, on a 24/7 chat, and on price: from €0.71 per month on the two-year plan or $40 for lifetime access. Its main weak spot is beating censorship: the service does not mention obfuscation or protocols like Shadowsocks, and it scores zero in that part of our rating. On security it gets 2.5 out of 10: it does not say whether it protects against DNS leaks, it is silent about security audits, and PPTP is still on its protocol list. It does not publish its renewal price.
Which replacement suits whom
PureVPN is the only one on the list that scores higher than FastestVPN (5.30 against 4.67). KPMG has audited its no-logs claim, it offers obfuscated servers disguised as HTTPS, and it runs more than 6000 servers. The catch is the renewal: the annual Standard plan after the promotion costs $47.95–57.95, and the 31-day refund policy does not cover renewals.
Hide.me suits anyone who needs a free plan and a way out of censored networks through StealthGuard and SoftEther. It renews subscriptions at the same price and for the same term, but it costs more: from €2.69 per month.
iProVPN is the closest match in features and is even cheaper, from €0.57 per month on the 4+1 year plan. It does not name its legal entity, it has no independent no-logs audit, and its censorship bypass score is also zero.
PrivadoVPN is run by a Swiss company and gives 10 GB free per month, but it does not say whether it offers obfuscation.
The last two rows describe the same FastVPN from the registrar Namecheap. It has a Scramble mode for OpenVPN, but the company is based in the US, and a year at $12 renews at $34.56.
