The Premium VPN is sold only as an annual subscription. The first year costs $34.99 (about €2.51 per month) plus tax and covers up to 10 devices. From the second year on, the regular price of $69.99 applies, exactly double. The 50% discount on the website is calculated from the renewal price: that is the first-year price.

What it comes to over three years

In the first year, Bitdefender is cheaper than the market: €2.51 per month against a median of €3.13 in the main ranking. After renewal, a month costs €5.02. Over three years, Premium VPN adds up to €150.47, an average of €4.18 per month, and four fifths of that amount falls on renewals. There is no monthly or two-year plan on the official page, so you cannot pay upfront for several years at a reduced rate.

A bundle instead of a standalone VPN

Premium Security includes a VPN and an antivirus: $79.99 for the first year and $129.99 on renewal. The catch is the device count: in the bundle, the VPN works on 5 devices, while the standalone Premium VPN covers 10. Over three years, the bundle comes to €292.37. If you need Bitdefender antivirus anyway, the bundle saves you a second subscription. If you only need the VPN, the overpayment is noticeable. The VPN is also included in Ultimate Security, which adds identity protection on top of it.

Renewal without surprises

Auto-renewal is enabled by default. Before charging the new price, Bitdefender sends an email.
