UFO VPN sells Premium in three terms, and the monthly price depends almost entirely on which one you pick. One month costs $11.99. The "year" runs 13 months for $49.99, and the "two years" stretch to 28 months for $83.99, which works out to $2.99 per month. Prices on the site are listed in dollars only, and if you pay with a card in another currency, your bank may charge a conversion fee.
Where the discount ends
The long plan is cheaper than the market median (€3.13 per month), but only for the first 28 months. After that, the subscription renews itself for a year at $49.99: about €3.58 per month, 1.4 times the starting price and above the median. Over three years, that plan costs about €115, while paying monthly adds up to about €371. For the 13-month plan, the service does not publish the renewal price, so you cannot calculate what it costs after the first term.
Where the 75% comes from
UFO VPN calculates the discount against the monthly price for the same 28 months, that is, against $335.72. The baseline is $11.99 per month, so the percentage says little about what you will pay in the second year. It is more useful to compare yearly bills after renewal, for example with Turbo VPN pricing. The device count is also worth checking: the pricing page promises 6, while the terms of use mention 5.
Payment and turning off auto-renewal
Payments are accepted via PayPal, bank card, cryptocurrency, the App Store and Google Play. Auto-renewal is on by default; on the site you turn it off in your account, and for a purchase made in the app store, you do it through that store. Can you get by without paying?
There is a free version, but the service does not state its limits on the site. According to a review by security.org, it is one device, around 21 servers and ads.
