NymVPN not working: modes, nodes and blocked networks

What to check
Check the provider’s status page for an outage (status.nymtech.net).
Switch protocol in the app: NymVPN lists WireGuard, Own protocol, AmneziaWG.
If the network blocks VPNs, turn on obfuscation (censorship resistance listed).
Contact support: live chat, Telegram, email.
If the website is blocked too, use the mirror or channel (Telegram community; Matrix; Discord).

NymVPN has no servers of its own: traffic goes through nodes run by independent operators, and the fault often sits in a specific node. Start by opening the status page at status.nymtech.net, then connect to a different country or a different node.
Fast mode and mixnet
In fast mode, traffic passes through two nodes over WireGuard. Anonymous mode routes traffic through five mixnet nodes with background cover traffic, and every extra node adds latency. If websites load slowly or calls keep dropping, switch to fast mode and check again. There is no fallback route outside the app: the service does not support OpenVPN or IKEv2, and it provides no configuration files for a router or a third-party client.
Internet gone after disconnecting
On Windows, the kill switch is on by default, and when the tunnel drops the app blocks all traffic. On Android, NymVPN relies on the system's always-on VPN feature, so you remove the block in Android's own settings.
The network blocks VPN
Anti-censorship protection is listed on the service's homepage as a feature in development. NymVPN does not support VLESS/Reality, Trojan, Shadowsocks or Hysteria2, so chances are slim on networks with strict filtering. For such networks, services from the list VPN with obfuscation are a better fit. NymVPN's terms also do not allow using it in countries where VPNs are banned or heavily restricted.
Where to write
There is no round-the-clock chat. The chatbot on the website can pass a question to a human, and tickets via support.nym.com are handled on weekdays from 01:00 to 17:00 GMT. If the service's website is down, you are left with the community on Telegram, Matrix and Discord. Common causes of outages are collected on the page VPN not working.
