NymVPN has no free plan. The trial lasts 7 days and is available on select plans when you pay with a bank card; it is not offered with cryptocurrency. Subscriptions renew automatically: if you do not cancel before the renewal date, the trial turns into a paid plan at the prices in effect at that moment.
What to test within a week
The app has two modes, and it makes sense to test both. Fast mode runs through two nodes over WireGuard, and the service calls it the fastest. Anonymous mode routes traffic through a mixnet of five nodes with background cover traffic. Independent operators run the nodes, so speeds within one country can vary from node to node. The service makes no claims about Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Disney+ or Prime Video support, and censorship resistance on the homepage is labelled as a feature in development.
Card and anonymity
A strength of NymVPN is sign-up without an email: you log in with a 24-word phrase and can pay with crypto or cash. The trial bypasses this route entirely. Stripe processes the card, and accounting records are kept for 10 years under Swiss law. If anonymity matters, it is simpler to pay €7.00 for one month with crypto right away. The service refunds money proportionally for the unused period, but it does not state the window in which you can request a refund. Refunds to the card take 5 to 10 business days.
