What the terms promise
IVPN refunds the full amount if you ask within 30 days of payment. There are two limits: the refund is granted only once per account or customer, and there is no partial refund for unused time. If you paid for a long plan and changed your mind on day 40, the terms do not allow you to get the remainder back. IVPN has no trial period and no free tier, so these 30 days are the way to test the service. The service offers a second option itself: a weekly plan as a short trial before a long-term payment.
Which payments are not refunded
The main pitfall is tied to the payment method. Cash and vouchers are not refunded at all, and neither is the IVPN Light plan. This hits those who choose IVPN for anonymity: the most private payment method turns out to be the riskiest. Monero and bitcoin payments fall outside the exceptions list, though the terms do not specify how a crypto refund would be paid out. A purchase on iPhone through the App Store is refunded by Apple under its own rules, and the request is filed in your Apple account. Card and PayPal payments follow the general 30-day rule.
How to submit a request
There is no separate refund form in the terms, so write to support through the form on the website or by email. An email address is not required at sign-up, and you log in with your account number, so include that number in your message, otherwise support has nothing to trace the payment with. You cancel the subscription in your account dashboard, and it is worth doing right after the request so you do not get hit with the next charge.
