What renewal costs
| Plan | First payment | Then |
|---|---|---|
| 2 Years + 2 Months, 26 mo | €44.50 | €44.50 / 12 mo |
| 6 Months, 6 mo | €36.07 | €36.07 / 6 mo |
| 1 Month, 1 mo | €11.17 | €11.17 / 1 mo |
Sign in on the CyberGhost website, open the profile menu at the top right, go to Subscriptions, press Cancel Subscription and confirm with Continue To Cancel. Once the screen says auto-billing has been switched off, the job is done and the VPN keeps running until the last day you paid for. A plan paid in the Apple, Google Play or Amazon store can only be ended inside that store.
Turning off renewal in your CyberGhost account
Every plan renews by default and gets charged to the payment method used last, and CyberGhost does not say it sends a warning email before that happens. So cancel early rather than on the last night. Log in, tap the avatar in the upper right corner, pick Subscriptions, press Cancel Subscription and confirm on the next screen. The Terms describe the same screen as Check subscription on the Overview tab, so if the menu looks slightly different, that is why.
Screenshot the confirmation before closing the page. If the button stalls, email support@cyberghost.ro using the email tied to your account, or use the site's live chat and ask them to switch the automatic payment off. CyberGhost's own cancellation guide shows the current screens for every platform.
Plans bought through Apple, Google Play or Amazon
Where you paid decides where you cancel. A store subscription never appears as cancellable in the CyberGhost dashboard, since CyberGhost never held that money.
iPhone, iPad and Mac
On iOS, open Settings, go into the section under your name, pick Subscriptions, choose CyberGhost VPN and confirm. On a Mac, the path runs through the App Store app: your name, Account Settings, Subscriptions. If a red expiration message shows up or the Cancel button has vanished, the renewal is already off. A free trial started in the App Store must be ended at least 24 hours before it converts to a paid plan.
Android and Fire TV
In the Play Store, sign in with the paying Google account, tap the profile icon, open Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose CyberGhost, pick a reason and confirm. Removing the app changes nothing about billing; the subscription lives in the store, not on the phone. On Fire TV, go to Settings, Applications, Appstore, Manage my subscriptions, or use the Memberships and Subscriptions page of your Amazon account.
The double-subscription trap
Subscribe in the iOS app and later purchase a long plan on the website, and you get billed twice: two unrelated subscriptions that must be cancelled separately. CyberGhost's checkout page itself tells people with an iOS plan to cancel it before paying on the site. Worth checking both places once.
Cancelling versus deleting the account
Cancelling kills the next payment only; deleting is a different beast and cannot be undone.
| Action | Next charge | VPN access | Reversible |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel subscription | Stopped | Runs until the paid term ends | Yes, a new plan can be bought on the same account |
| Delete account | Stopped | Ends, all subscriptions tied to the email go with it | No, coming back means a fresh purchase |
Cancelling does not pay anything back by itself; website plans fall under a 45-day money-back window (14 days for the monthly plan), store purchases go through the store, see the refund page.
What auto-renewal would charge if you leave it on
| Plan | First bill | Renews every | Renewal price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Years + 2 Months | $51.74 for 26 months | 12 months | $51.74 (about $4.31/month) |
| 6 Months | $41.94 for 6 months | 6 months | $41.94 |
| 1 Month | $12.99 | 1 month | $12.99 |
Taxes may apply. The long plan is the trap: the initial 26 months give way to just 12 for the same money, a x2.17 jump per month measured by VPNRadarLab. That rise is one reason the price and terms block scores 3.6 of 10: self-service cancellation earns some credit there, while auto-renewal switched on by default earns nothing. CyberGhost does not publish whether it sends a reminder before renewal, so that item earns nothing either. One consolation from the Terms: a price change never touches the current term, it applies from the following renewal.
FAQ
Does uninstalling the app stop the payments?
No. Billing sits in your CyberGhost account or in the store that processed it.
I bought a trial inside a store. Where does it end?
In the same store that started it. Apple's cutoff is 24 hours before the trial ends.
Can the price rise before my renewal date?
Not during the term you paid for. Any new price starts at the next renewal.
Can support cancel it for me?
Yes, its team can disable the automatic renewal for you.
The short route
Website plan: cancel in the account and keep the confirmation screenshot. Store plan: end it inside that store with the paying account. The paid days remain yours until they run out, and if the renewal hike is what pushed you out, VPNs that renew without a price rise are a better fit next time.
