Store ratings and collected reviews
Google Play shows 4.3 from 830 thousand ratings and over 50 million installs, while the US App Store shows 4.6. Among the 1,251 text reviews we collected, the picture is worse: 744 five-star ratings and 366 one- or two-star ratings. Ratings without text are usually higher: people tend to write a review when something breaks. Since the start of 2025, the average across text reviews is 3.65, and over the last three months it is lower in both stores. The main complaint: ads instead of free access
Out of 115 negative reviews posted since January 2025, almost one in five is about ads. Users write that the free version now gives about 15 minutes per ad watched, accumulated minutes sometimes disappear, and after an ad the app may show a "Connection error". The phrase "it used to be free" comes up often. Still, more than half of the reviews are five stars, and in them users praise the free access itself, the speed and the simple connection.
Glitches after updates
The second wave of complaints: the app won't start, hangs on the splash screen or shows a white screen, and after an update the region selection disappears. Two users directly advise not to update. Among paying users there are isolated reviews saying that ads did not disappear after buying Premium and that a second device could not be connected.
Who replies to reviews
On Google Play, the developer replied to all 108 negative reviews posted since January 2025, while on the App Store it answered none of the seven and on Trustpilot neither of the two. You can compare it with other services in our section on VPNs by user reviews.
