34 Reddit and forum threads mention Hola VPN (we keep titles and search snippets only).
We collected 836 Hola VPN reviews from Trustpilot, the App Store and Google Play. After smoothing, Trustpilot gives 4.32 out of 5, the App Store 3.84, and Google Play 3.51. Opinions are sharply divided: on Trustpilot, 94% of ratings are either ones or fives. These reviews do not affect the VPNRadarLab score (1.58 out of 10).
The main complaint: it won't connect
We counted topics by keywords, so the shares are approximate. In the App Store, almost half of the negative reviews (37 out of 79) are about the connection: the app won't connect, drops the connection after 20 minutes, or disconnects when the phone is locked. About another quarter write about countries: the location they need is only available with Premium, and one author on Trustpilot writes that after selecting Kenya, the IP stayed British. In Google Play, about a quarter of the 110 negative reviews mention connection issues, and another 33 consist of a couple of words.
Money and subscriptions
Negative reviews on Trustpilot are few (23), and a third of them are about billing: money was charged after the trial period, Premium didn't activate after payment, or a refund was refused. Before buying, read the Hola VPN refund terms: money is refunded only if you haven't used Premium. Hola responds to complaints selectively: on Trustpilot there are 15 replies to 23 negative reviews, in Google Play 67 out of 110, and in the App Store none.
Fear for your data
