BearVPN has one paid plan, Premium, for 1, 12 or 24 months: $9.99, $29.99 and $39.99. Two years work out at $1.67 per month, less than half the market median (€3.13). The service calculates its 83% discount against the monthly price.
Which term to pick
Paying monthly for a year costs €103, four times the annual plan. The second year on top costs just $10: €34.39 for 24 months versus €25.79 for 12. The bigger unknown is renewal: BearVPN does not publish the renewal price, the pricing page has no small print about it, and the service does not say whether auto-renewal is on by default. There is no way to find out in advance what you would pay in the third year.
The refund window also depends on the term. The website promises 30 days for all plans, but the refund policy gives 30 days only to the one-year and two-year plans, and 7 days to the monthly one. The payment processor's fee is deducted on refunds, and purchases made through app stores are refunded under their rules.
What paying gets you
The free version is available on Android and iOS: unlimited traffic, no sign-up or card required, but with ads and a random server. Premium adds server selection, apps for Windows and macOS, 10 devices at once, an ad-free experience and priority support. There is no trial period; instead, you can install the free mobile version.
You can pay with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express card, through PayPal or via an app store. BearVPN does not accept cryptocurrency.
