BearVPN scores 3.62 out of 10 and ranks 60th in the main ranking. Its score is held up by a low price, a free mobile version with no registration, and a 24/7 chat. Security drags it down with 1.4 points: the protocols are not named, the service does not say whether it protects against DNS leaks, there are no audits, and the company and country of registration are not stated anywhere.
Same budget, more open data
The first five services on the list cost between €1.38 and €1.71 per month, almost the same as BearVPN at €1.44. Private Internet Access (5.13) has had its no-logs policy checked by Deloitte, its apps are open source on GitHub, and it offers WireGuard; the downsides are the US jurisdiction and the 5 Eyes alliance. CyberGhost VPN (4.18) is registered in Romania, protects against DNS leaks, and gives you 45 days for a refund. Of these five, only CitadelVPN (VLESS and Hysteria2) and CometVPN claim traffic obfuscation, the feature BearVPN relies on. With CometVPN, the monthly plan cannot be refunded.
If you need a free option
The free BearVPN works only on Android and iOS: unlimited traffic, but the server is chosen at random and ads are shown. Free plans are also available from CitadelVPN, iTop VPN, TikVPN and FoolVPN. FoolVPN's free plan also shows ads. iTop VPN and TikVPN have scores close to BearVPN's (3.58 and 3.43), but iTop VPN requires an account.
If price matters
The only service cheaper than BearVPN on the list is CopVPN: €1.28 per month and unlimited devices. You pay for that with a US jurisdiction, the 5 Eyes alliance and no independent no-logs audit.
