How long it lasts and which devices it covers

AVG offers a 60-day trial in its apps for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. There is no app for Linux, so you cannot try the service on that platform. There is one plan, AVG Secure VPN Multi-Device, and it covers 10 devices at the same time. Two months is enough time to properly test speed and stability on your phone, laptop and home computer. AVG has no free plan, so once the trial days run out, a paid subscription is the only option.

What happens at checkout

When you sign up for the trial, you are charged $0 at checkout. AVG does not say whether a card is needed for this. You will need an email address to sign up. Auto-renewal is on by default, so after 60 days the subscription is charged automatically. There is no monthly plan; the shortest term is a year. Right now a year costs $53.88, two years $105.36, and three years $158.04. The discount is calculated against the renewal price, and the subscription renews at $109.99 per year, roughly twice the first-year price. The plan details are collected on the AVG Secure VPN pricing page.

If the service is not for you

It is better to make that decision before the trial ends and switch off auto-renewal in your AVG account right away. If you have already been charged, there is still a 30-day money-back guarantee, with the terms described on the AVG Secure VPN refund page.

Can you pay with cryptocurrency or cash?

No, AVG accepts neither.

Is the trial suitable for torrents and streaming?

There are P2P servers for torrents in eight cities, including Prague, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London. AVG makes no claims about Netflix support.
