Astrill VPN not connecting: StealthVPN, protocols and device limits
4 things to check, built from what Astrill VPN publishes about its apps, protocols and support. We do not test connections ourselves.
What to check
Switch protocol in the app: Astrill VPN lists WireGuard, OpenVPN, Own protocol.
If the network blocks VPNs, turn on obfuscation (StealthVPN).
Try a manual configuration (OpenVPN with third-party clients).

We do not test connections ourselves and rely on what Astrill VPN publishes about its apps and protocols. The service does not mention a server status page, so you have to start on your own side.
Start with the app settings
The app has a kill switch called App Guard: if the tunnel drops while protection is on, selected apps lose internet access, and it can look like a network failure. Smart mode lets part of the traffic bypass the VPN, and a problem site may be going around the tunnel. Also check the number of devices: on its homepage Astrill writes about five simultaneous connections, while on its pricing page it promises an unlimited number of devices in one home. If a sixth device will not connect, the limit may be the reason.
When the network blocks VPN
Astrill offers WireGuard, OpenVPN and two of its own protocols, StealthVPN and OpenWeb. The service itself says that OpenVPN is blocked in China, so manual OpenVPN files for third-party clients are no use there. On networks with filtering, switch to StealthVPN, Astrill's obfuscation protocol. Astrill does not offer VLESS Reality, Trojan, Shadowsocks or Hysteria2, and it scores 2.4 out of 10 for bypassing blocks. If even StealthVPN does not get through, keep a backup option from our list of VPNs with stealth features.
Check the terms as well: Astrill's own rules exclude sanctioned countries and countries the service does not cover. Astrill does not refund a plan because your provider blocks the VPN or the app does not work on your device; details are on the Astrill VPN refund page.
When to contact support
Live chat is available 24/7, and there is email at support@astrill.com, plus an FAQ, a Wiki and video tutorials. There is no forum and no Discord. Astrill does not say whether it has site mirrors in case of blocking. In your request, include the protocol, country, device and app version.
