What Astrill says about cancellation

In the Astrill VPN terms, cancellation is described in a single sentence: stop using the service, and money already paid is not refunded. The service does not describe a button for turning off auto-renewal. Astrill also does not say whether plans renew automatically or whether you get a reminder before a charge. On the pricing page, the yearly and two-year plans are labeled as "billed once a year / once every 2 years" at the same price, with no other conditions.

How to avoid the next charge

Start with your payment method. If you paid by card, watch your statement around the renewal date, because Astrill does not say whether it keeps your card for repeat charges. If you paid through PayPal, open the list of automatic payments in PayPal and remove Astrill if it is there. Bitcoin, Monero and bank transfer do not repeat by themselves: every payment is sent by you. If you bought the app in the App Store or Google Play, cancel the subscription in the store settings.

Then write to support; the live chat works around the clock, and the address is support@astrill.com. Ask them to confirm in writing that there will be no next charge, and keep the reply.

Will you get your money back

No. All sales are final, there is no money-back guarantee, and Astrill does not refund if the app is incompatible with your device or your internet provider blocks it. So cancel ahead of time, before the renewal date. For more detail, see our breakdown of the Astrill VPN refund policy.

Can you try it first?

There is no trial period. The shortest plan costs $30 for a month, the yearly one $180, the two-year one $300. If you would rather not keep track of renewal dates, take a look at VPNs without auto-renewal.
