TorGuard user reviews: what customers report
680 reviews of TorGuard collected from Trustpilot, App Store and Google Play. Most come from Google Play: 3.19 of 5 after smoothing. Reviews never change our score.
Ratings by source
Smoothed: a source’s average across all VPNs counts as 50 extra reviews, so a few five-star reviews cannot outrank thousands.

On Reddit and forums

Two platforms paint very different pictures of TorGuard. On Trustpilot, its smoothed rating is 4.02 out of 5, above the average across all VPNs, and over the last 90 days it has risen to 4.30. On Google Play it only gets 3.19: of the 480 reviews collected, 210 are negative, with one or two stars. The gap is explained by the fact that Google Play rates one specific Android app, while on Trustpilot people write about the service as a whole: billing, support, dedicated IPs.
The main complaint on Google Play
Most often, Android users say the connection drops. The app shows "connected" while traffic is already bypassing the tunnel, or it disconnects many times a day after exiting the app. Another frequent theme: the app asks for the login and password over and over, or refuses to let you in at all. There are complaints about crashes after updates on new Samsung phones, and about use in Iran, where even Stealth mode does not always get through the block. If this is your situation, a breakdown of typical failures is available on the page TorGuard not working.
What people dislike on Trustpilot
There are 39 negative reviews out of 200 here, and nearly all of them are about money and support. People wait hours or days for a ticket reply, especially when they bought a residential or streaming IP and it did not work. Another group of reviews: the subscription renewed automatically and the refund request was denied. TorGuard's refund policy only applies to new customers within the first 7 days and does not cover cryptocurrency payments or dedicated IPs; the terms are laid out in the breakdown of TorGuard's refund policy.
How the company responds to criticism
It rarely responds. On Trustpilot, the company replied to 11 of the 39 negative reviews, and on Google Play to 4 of 210. If you described a problem in the app store, do not expect a reply there: write to the chat or open a ticket on the website.
