What stands behind $2.99 per month
The regular Pro price on the site is $9.99 per month, and $2.99 is shown as a 70% discount when you pay for 24 months upfront. The site claims savings of $168 over two years, which works out to a one-time payment of about $71.76. The currency is marked only with a dollar sign, so it appears to be USD; in euros that comes to €2.57 per month against a market median of €3.13. The renewal price after two years is not published, so there is no way to calculate the third-year amount in advance.
The term switcher does not change the price
The pricing page offers terms of 1, 12 and 24 months labeled "Save 40%" and "Save 70%", but the displayed prices did not change when switching between them. There is no way to tell from the site what a month or a year actually costs. The FAQ on the technology page lists Pro at "$2/month annual", which conflicts with the $2.99 on the pricing page. Check the final amount in the cart before paying.
What Free, Pro and Business give you
The free plan requires no card and shows no ads: one device, speeds up to 10 Mbit/s, support only through the community. Pro removes these limits: five devices, up to 10 Gbit/s per session according to the service, the Sovereign Route double VPN and priority email support. Business costs $7.99 per user per month instead of $12.99, with no term stated; on top of that you get an admin panel, SSO, a static IP, an activity log and a Slack channel with a response within 4 hours. You can pay with a Visa, MasterCard or Amex card, via PayPal or with cryptocurrency.
