Its cheapest rate, about €2.86 a month, sits just under the €3.13 market median that VPNRadarLab calculates across its ranking, while the yearly and monthly rates land well above it.
Unlimited on a monthly, yearly or three-year term
The billing term is the only lever on price. Pay month to month and Unlimited runs $10.99 every month. Commit to a year and you hand over $69.99 once, which works out at $5.83 a month (about €5.01). Stretch to 36 months and the single payment of $120 brings the effective rate down to $3.33 a month, about €2.86: the cheapest rate TunnelBear sells. The site labels these as 47% and 70% off, both measured against the $10.99 monthly price; twelve months on that plan add up to $131.88.
The free plan is the budget alternative: 2GB of data a month, no country or city selection and no split tunneling. It proves the apps connect on your network; that is about it. Every term and rate is listed on TunnelBear's own pricing page.

Paying unlocks unlimited data, location choice, premium servers, SplitBear and priority support. There is no free trial listed by TunnelBear; the free plan is the practical way to test the service.
The second charge: renewals on each term
Monthly billing repeats at the same $10.99, so it never gets cheaper. The yearly plan renews at $69.99, the exact amount of the first year, which the checkout states in its fine print. The 3-year plan is the exception: TunnelBear does not publish what it charges after month 36, so the cost beyond that point is unknown at checkout. Watch your My Account page before the term ends if that matters to you.
Auto-renewal is on by default, and cancellation is something you do yourself on the My Account page. Stacking matters here: three consecutive yearly terms add up to $209.97 over 36 months against $120 for one 3-year order. The commitment is where the saving lives.
Teams seats and the extras TunnelBear does not sell
Teams costs $5.75 per user per month with a minimum of two seats, and includes admin tools for managing the accounts. There is no family plan, and TunnelBear offers no dedicated IP add-on and no port forwarding add-on.
Paying by card, and when the money comes back
Checkout takes a card, processed through Stripe or Link, and that is the entire list of payment methods. No crypto, no cash, no PayPal are listed. If you want a VPN company with no trace of your bank details, this is the wrong provider. The refund guarantee is narrow: a full refund within 30 days applies to first-year annual subscriptions only, while monthly plans, Teams and purchases made through iOS or Google Play are not eligible, as the TunnelBear refund page explains.

For context, the overall score is 3.59 of 10, placing TunnelBear 62nd in the main ranking.
