We collected 290 AirVPN reviews, and the ratings vary a lot across platforms. On Google Play, after smoothing, the score is 4.39 out of 5 based on 189 reviews, while Trustpilot and the App Store sit at around 3.6. On Trustpilot, 19 of the 67 reviews gave one or two stars, and the company has not replied to a single one.
What people praise
Happy customers mention fast servers at a reasonable price, and several people have used the service for years. They also value port forwarding, which is included in the only plan.
Main complaints
Two themes come up more often than the rest. The first is speed and stability. Reviewers describe speeds that jump around during the day, WireGuard disconnects, and an Eddie client that gets stuck in a reconnect loop on macOS and freezes after sleep on Linux. The second theme is support. Several reviews describe an account being closed with a refund after a dispute about a malfunction, with the reviewer banned from the forum. There are also complaints that the website blocks your IP for requesting forum pages too often, after which you cannot download either the client or a configuration.
If the tunnel is slow or will not come up, start with these connection checks: switch the server, protocol or the OpenVPN port (80, 443 or 53).
Ratings on the App Store
AirVPN does not say it has its own iPhone app, so iOS is set up manually with WireGuard or OpenVPN. Recent low ratings on the App Store talk about topping up the balance and nodes going missing, even though AirVPN sells prepaid periods. Check which app the review is actually about.
